Barnstoneworth B’s played Gosford on Saturday at Narara Valley High School.
A good all-round performance from the boys saw lots of chances in the first half.
After lots of pressure from the two front runners Ed & Nigel and some great through balls from a strong midfield of Neil, Shaun, Lee and (Kev)

BUFC D’s 4 Gosford 0 (unless we scored any more in the last quarter)

A fine battling display from all and a warm welcome back to D grade for Ed whose partnership up front with John looks very promising (and his hatrick wasn’t too bad either). Gosford fielded a much stronger side and there was little between the 2 sides till John stole a goal before half time. Read more

On Saturday 14th March a selection of four BUFC A grade players were invited to participate in the annual Joadja Cup football match in Bowral.
The Joadja Cup is reported to be the oldest football trophy being played in Australia and played by an invitational England team against the old foes Scotland.

A glorious Saturday afternoon saw last years Terrigal B’s take on our very own Barnestoneworth FC B’s at the ‘Stadio Olympico Woodport’ with a packed capacity crowd of four wives, twelve kids (most of those kids are Lee’s), oh and Fraser!
Firstly a big thanks to the guy’s who filled in to make up the numbers, (Yatsey, Gav, John Rymil, Julian Halcrow (Kev’s mate) and Fraser.
Not to sure what the score was with Ray, he went over to the dark side and played for Terrigal maybe the standard was a bit to high for him in the B’s.
A funny game not much came out of this, apart from the fact that the pitch was longer than it was wider, the goal posts were 1ft 3” high (better than jumpers for goal posts.. what what..) and Fraser came on for the second half (now pull yourself up off the floor and stop laughing and carry on reading).
Lots of good chances in the first half, some great balls played through from midfield up to Brad and Nigel (both looking sharp on the ball). A fare amount of rotation from all the midfielders saw a few playing in some unfamiliar positions.
Terrigal went 1-0 up in about 10mins with a follow up strike from Lee in the left midfield saw the score at 1-1… not to sure who scored our second goal (anyone want to put there hand up?).
Strong performances from Joey and Yatsey in the backs and very committed Phil at left back as usual. Darrell had a few good saves in goal and was never really tested apart from a clear offside one on one which saw the 6ft 4” Mohawk goalie make a great save.
Second half saw Neil and Fraser playing with each other in the midfield! (“get some mongrel in ya! And “Och eye the Nue” …… were some of the calls coming out of the midfield).
Final score Barnestoneworth 2 – Terrigal 4.
Overall a good performance and already looking forward to next week’s rematch at Narara (time to be confirmed).

Barnstoneworth 3 Gosford 2

A good challenge and bonding session for our 1st competitive game of the season playing last years hard working Gosford C grade side on a boggy pitch with long grass. Plenty of plusses with many chances created, not many given and some fine battling from all.

Goals were from John, West Ham Mark, Dave Thomas and Aaron (for them) while the best misses went to Delboy, Andy and John who are all booked in at Specsavers. (or Terrigal Optometrists if Kev sponsors us!)

Dave and Mark’s maiden goals for Barnstoneworth I believe so season target upped to 5 a piece!

Weather (pouring rain)

Brad’s Barnstoneworth C’s old timers vs Penang FC fit, fast and pretty good teenagers

Final score lost count after 5 but will settle for about 8-1

A long game of 3 halves was actually pretty close for the 1st half hour with some resolute defending with Geordie in imperious form wearing his brand spanking new Sunderland shirt and aptly backed up by Aaron in goal, Phil on the left and fine debuts from Dave Sole on the right, Joey in the middle and Shaun running the midfield.

We were finally broken down with 2 quick goals the 2nd a fine strike from outside the box before replying with a goal from Glenn on his debut after fine work from Eduardo, Dave and Nigel (who was looking very fit after losing 6 ounces over the summer).

30 seconds later we were 3-1 down after Aaron was caught out facing the wrong way from the kick off but “it wasn’t fair coz he wasn’t ready”

Eduardo, Nigel & Geordie (from a corner) were unlucky not to get us back into the game with fine efforts before the Barny Army started running out of players and steam with Penang classily passing the ball around leaving us huffing and puffing.  chasing shadows.

Final score, probably about 4-1 in normal time and about 8-1 overall but a fine workout for our makeshift team and played in great spirit.

Looking good for the new season!

BUFC started strongly and played some lovely football but failed to trouble the opposition goalkeeper early on. However after a good build up Craig Northey opened up the account with a delightful finish to put the red and white army 1 nil up.

In the 1st Half Redfern Raiders played some very clever close control football but rarely troubled the BUFC defence and Darren had a fairly untroubled 1st half.

Halftime BUFC 1, Redfern Raiders 0

The 2nd half started brightly with an early goal, again after some good work by Ashley, Craig slotted home with a calm finish and then followed that with his 3rd goal of the day.

Redfern Raiders then started a spirited fight back and were awarded a penalty which was neatly finished to make the score 3-1. BUFC then produced a period of sustained pressure and with Craig bearing down on goal was fouled and awarded a penalty.

No one could get in Darrens way in taking the penalty and up he strode and neatly put the ball away in the top right hand corner. The game had to be stopped for 5 minutes whilst Darren ran a celebration lap of the Oval.

With the game nearing completion Redfern Raiders made one more attack and scored a late consolation goal.

Final Score BUFC 4,  Redfern Raiders 2.
