BUFC A vs Kincumber

Venue – Frost Oval

The much anticipated start to the season had finally arrived with BUFC A’s starting the season with a tough trip to Kincumber.

The game started off brightly for BUFC with plenty of possession and early opportunities.

After a couple of missed chances the deadlock was broken in the 15th minute when Ashley put Gavin (Chariots of fire) through on goal and with a calmly taken finish it was 1-0.

The goal inspired BUFC to step up the tempo and produce some exciting football and in the 22nd minute Ricky broke through and with typical South American style and found the back of the net to make it 2-0.

With the very next attack Ashley again broke through from the midfield to slot home the 3rd on 23 minutes. On 26 minutes after another good passage of play Fast Steve fired home coolly to make it 4-0.

Halftime Scoreline Kincumber 0 – Barnestoneworth 4

The second half started a bit slower with Kincumber re-grouping and starting to find their game.

Chances came at both ends and Kincumber looking to put some pressure on a very solid back four with solid performances from Nic and Yatesy in the centre of defence.

In the 70th minute the BUFC defence was breached when Kincumber got numbers forward and finished off at the unguarded back post from a scrappy attack to make it 4-1.

However this only sparked BUFC back to life and after a couple of good attacks Fast Steve’s shot struck the post and Gavin followed up for his 2nd goal of the game in the 76th minute.

Over all a very satisfactory start to the 2009 campaign with the old guard back fighting fit and the introduction of new boys Craig Northey and Sean Coward who slotted in superbly.

Final Scoreline Kincumber 1 – Barnestoneworth 5
