BUFC D vs Kanwal

The D’s were creaking slightly being generally old (or ancient in Mr Dalton and Mr Butlers case) with our 1st game in 3 weeks and missing Bill’s Duracel capabilities and Ed’s knack for nicking goals.

However we started brightly with Denis weaving his magic in midfield and Andy S, Delboy and John causing them problems up front while the defence mopped up the odd raid from Kanwal. Delboy lashed home a fine goal from the edge of the box to give us the lead but several chances went astray to extend the lead.

All was well at halftime, 1-0 up and cruising till we lost the plot completely with Kanwal getting forward in numbers and bombarding our box with long balls and pinning us back. Our defence coped admirably with Aaron in fine form till a ball one bounced badly for us and Kanwal pounced for the equaliser. We rallied well after this and slowly clawed our way back in to the game and with the clock ticking, stole a winner with John lashing a toe poke in from 5 yards after fine play from Denis to steal the 3 points and maintain our 100% record.

Deserved man of the match was Smithy who popped up everywhere

– a fine display only tainted by him being a Man Utd fan – if only he supported a decent team like Liverpool, Celtic or Leyton Orient – um.
