BUFC B Vs Kariong

To our surprise we actually played on Saturday so we had to make the most of it, playing against Kariong who at the start of the day were running 3rd  it was going to be another hard game.

With the rain and soggy pitch, it was bringing back fond memories for the expats and so it inspired us to play some great football considering the conditions. Kariong were chasing the ball for much of the first half and you could see frustration creeping in from a few of there players when eventually we got a much deserved goal scored by Eduardo.

From then on we had numerous chances the best coming from a screaming left foot volley from Kev. It was going for the roof of the net but some how the keeper pushed it over the bar, in my book I don’t think we will see a better save all year!

The relentless pressure paid off when with some lovely approach play big Ed was pulled down in the box, up stepped Brad and with confidence and slipped the ball in low to the keepers right.

The second half started the same, we new they would come at us but we managed to stifle them until a mistake let there forward in and he finished of with a goal.

The rest of the game was getting a bit nasty at times with some bad tackles coming in from them, the ref was asked to calm the situation down and so a few bookings started to happen which did the job. With literally seconds left Brad Finch was given a straight red for which none of us were quite sure what for, a bit of play acting on behalf of the Kariong player did not help.

Final score BUFC 2 – KARIONG 1

A great effort by every player but a solid performance from Joey earned him the man of the match award. Well done!

Also a special mention to Jordy for forsaking the entire game to do a fine job of the subs and also to the loyal supporters who came out in miserable conditions, again well done!
