BUFC D vs Kanwal

This week the Dashing D’s set course on the Good Ship Barnstoneworth for a smash n grab raid on the Northern hamlet of Kanwal hoping to avenge our failure to overcome the might of Gosford on our last foray. Our motley crew of vagrants and scallywags mounted a vigorous assault on fortress Kanwal but were repelled and counter-attacked repeatedly down our right flank by a wily foe using the icy wind and blinding sun in our eyes to bombard our top deck with long high balls. This tactic finally paid off with a late 1st half breech with a 2nd only narrowly averted by the heroics of Baldrick at our rear. Half time 1-0 to Kanwal.

In the 2nd half, leading gun and head muso Ed (back on board after a lengthy absence) was finally unleashed with immediate effect, causing them instant problems with fine backup from Dell, Johnno and Gloria. However inspiration came from an unlikely source as we allowed Tommo out from the galley for a rare forward forage, resulting in a fine prod home for his debut goal and a deserved equalizer. 1-1. With head chef Andy holding the Kanwal hordes comfortably at bay and a sea of red and white swarming forward only one result looked likely but unfortunately it wasn’t to be. A soft penalty was awarded against us that our able opponents ruthlessly hammered past Baldrick to avenge our narrow victory earlier in the season and unfortunately deliver our 2nd defeat of the campaign. Final score 2-1 to a fine battling Kanwal side.

Man of the match was Tommo

Who just sneaked it from Johnno and Andy while moment of the day was stolen by Woodsy with his attempt on the warm up to pretend he was carrying a cup of tea on his rear end while also clenching 2 train tickets – a fine sight and not as easy as one might think eh?
