R1 match Report: Umina vs 45BS

We had a lack lustre first 15 mins with a bit of ball watching and inaccurate passing and not tracking our players. This resulted in Umina scoring their first 2 goals. What certainly did not help our cause was having Neil and Graeme sustaining injuries within the first 5 minutes resulting in them being sidelined.

We thought we had our subs sorted but after losing Andrew Hayes right at the start (due to a suspension last year carrying over to this year, unbeknown to us until we put the team sheet in). This reduced us to no subs which is not good for a team who have an average age of about 55! Nevertheless less we battled on and improved our game even scoring a split second after the half time whistle but it was disallowed.

Our second half was much more composed with us starting to get over Umina when we got our rhythm back resulting in some good attacking raids. They scored again but we pulled that back with a good Ivan goal which meant the second half was 1-1.

The boys put in a great effort throughout the game and especially with no subs and being the first game of the season.
