Kincumber 1 – BUFC Ds 4
As the ancient prophecy foretold, the mighty Barnstoneworth 35Ds opened their season with a cracking 4-1 win over Kincumber. A great injection of new talent has revitalised the team, with a bunch of new players bringing some much needed strength in all areas of the pitch.
Tim opened the scoring with a fine strike from the right after only five minutes, then probably would have added at least one more in the first half as we pressed repeatedly, denied several times by an almost comically delayed reaction linesman with a poor knowledge of basic geometry. Leigh did strong work in midfield before Della made it 2-0 just before half time.
The second half saw a quick third goal after fine work up front from Ryan and Tim, then the Kincumbers upped their game a bit and defensive questions were asked. Thankfully Jason and Pierre were up to the task, repelling several efforts before we did concede a cheap one.
Any hope of a comeback for the Roos was however quickly dashed as after some strong running on the left from Simon, Tim made it a hat trick from an important header from Damo. All in all it was a strong performance and a great start to the season. Thanks to Damo, Todd and Mick for helping us out.
THE LEGEND IS REBORN.
