With our 35A’s winning their Grand Final the previous weekend, the pressure was squarely on the Barnstoneworth 35BN team to follow that up and clinch the Premiers title to go with our League Championship, which saw us squaring off against Doyalson on the showpiece Pluim 1 pitch.
The 2016 Over 35 A champions are Barnstoneworth. A hard fought game which could, and probably should, have been over in the first 30 minutes with Barnstoneworth hitting the woodwork and missing a penalty.
Thanks to typhoon ‘Bruce’ lashing the Central Coast for 24 hours on Thursday and Friday, our Major Semi-Final versus Doyalson (DOY) was moved from ESACC to ‘glorious’ Ourimbah.
After being rained off several weeks before, the match against East Gosford became D-grade’s final game for the season, having finished fifth in the competition. As the team had been formed only the year before to play in F-grade, and was composed largely of non-soccer players
Due to our Round 17 game having previously been washed out, our final league game saw us travel to Hylton Moore oval play East Gosford. Having already been confirmed as minor premiers, the brief was to use this game to continue to build momentum for the finals series, whilst avoiding any unnecessary cards or injuries.
