Barnstoneworth Old Chaps

Back at the fortress against the runaway leaders of our grade who were yet to register a loss, but coming off their first and only draw of the season.

It didn’t start well. The entrance had all the ball and our guys felt like we had sprinted to their home ground and back by the time 15 minutes was up. Read more

Barnstoneworth

Round 8 saw Barnstoneworth playing the return away fixture against Wyong at Baker Park and looking to maintain our hold on top spot.

Heavy traffic in the Wyong area saw many of the team arriving later than planned, resulting in our warm up being more rushed than would have been ideal and that probably contributed to our slower than expected start to the game. Read more

The mighty B south boys headed away to Ourimbah oval for the second time this season. This was somewhat of a danger game for us – one we all probably expected to win after a 4-1, victory in round 1. Games like this have historically proven to be the ones we find hardest to perform in. Read more

Round 6 saw us playing our home game against The Entrance at Pat Morley Oval in our rather swanky white away strip, in which we nearly always seem to get good results for some reason.

Despite lots of pre-game talk about ignoring our opponents’ league position in an attempt to shake off any complacency, our opponents came at us very hard from the kick off and we found ourselves on the back foot for the opening 5-10 minutes. A round five rematch against our grand final opponents from last year with the net result being another loss in a game that we should’ve won without issue.

While our football was largely panicked and quite ordinary, this was one game when the football played is of little importance in the context of other events. Read more
