How good was it to be back on the hallowed home turf for the first time in a couple of years, with plenty of support given that a bunch of our teams were “back to back at fortress Duffys” A real highlight of the afternoon!! Read more
Round 2 saw Barnstoneworth 35BN’s away to Berkley Vale at Chittaway Oval, which meant both our opponent and the venue were unknowns. A 1.30PM kick off saw temperatures still in the high 20’s, so rotations in the midfield would again be likely to be a key factor. Read more
Round one results suggested this match was going to be a pretty good indication of how we are placed against the higher quality teams in the B south comp.
The first half was very tight and although both teams dominated for periods it’s probably fair to suggest that we had the better of the chances. Read more
Round 1 saw Barnstoneworth 35BN’s hosting Wyong at Duffy’s oval, which was looking positively verdant, after the off season. Wyong were new to the split 35B’s comp, so we had no knowledge of the threat they might carry, which made for a nice challenge after a number of years playing largely the same teams. Read more
A great start to life in B grade with a 4-1 away win against Ourimbah. An excellent team effort right across the park but especially pleasing was the way we gelled with out 3 new guys, Raoul, Jimmy O and Glen who all had cracking games. Read more
Round 7 saw us play our only scheduled home game at Duffy’s Oval against Gosford and we were all looking forward to seeing how $200,000 dollars’ worth of pitch would be to play on. Whilst the surface didn’t feel like we were playing on carpet, it was nonetheless in good shape despite some overnight rain, which hopefully shows that the much needed drainage upgrades were worthwhile. Round 6 saw us away to top of the table The Entrance 1, who had only dropped 2 points thus far in the competition, so were expected to be tough opponents. Despite our relative league positions, we started the better of the two sides and deservedly took the lead through a thunderous free kick from Neal, which he hit into the side netting from fully 25 metres. Round 5 saw us away to Killarney Vale and despite another wet week, EDSAAC Oval was thankfully in pretty good shape for the game. Kilarney started the game strongly and we found ourselves having to defend for long periods, so it was a little against the run of play when Adam was released with a great through ball and put one on one with their keeper, which he finished off with a composed finish. Round 4 saw our home game against Avoca thankfully moved from the ‘never-to-be-played-on’ Terry Oval to Alan Davidson Oval in Wyoming. After the disappointment of dominating against The Entrance in round 3 and failing to capitalise, our target was clearly to convert the chances that we had been creating, in order to ensure the securing of all three points. Much to our surprise given the rainfall of biblical proportions in the week leading up to the game, round 3 saw us travel to Pat Morley Oval to play the table-topping Entrance 2. After our disappointing last minute loss in round 2, the focus was very much on keeping our discipline right to the final whistle, which would hopefully allow us to stay in touch the top 3 teams who had all bagged maximum points so far.
