This week the Dashing D’s set anchor off the dangerous waters of Gavin Lock Oval for a skirmish with the ever tough Gosford. Missing a snotty Gloria (bless!) Dellboy (big wuss – moving house) and Woodsy (condolences from all), we faced a much weakened opposition fielding only 9 guys and missing several key players. Consequently (12 letters) 90% of the action was in their half but fair credit to our opponents (9 letters) they frustrated (10) us for long periods before John scored a scorcher followed by a typical poachers goal from leading gun Ed. (actually can’t remember either goal but always best to big them up)  Half-time 2-0 to HMS Barnstoneworth. Read more

This week our very own Concert Party (aka the dashing D’s) were assigned to forward observation duties in the high ground of Mangrove Mountain. Thankfully we were well-prepared for this, having undergone intensive altitude training on Wednesday evening by lugging the esky up to the car park at Terry oval. Read more

This week the dashing D’s were on manoeuvres along the peninsular trail for a Sunday make-up game against unbeaten top of the table Woy Woy. The unseasonably warm weather caused everyone to feel like they were appearing in an episode of ‘It Ain’t Half Hot Mum’, with most of us searching for that long-lost bottle of factor 50 in our kit bags before kick off. This week the Dashing D’s set course on the Good Ship Barnstoneworth for a smash n grab raid on the Northern hamlet of Kanwal hoping to avenge our failure to overcome the might of Gosford on our last foray. Our motley crew of vagrants and scallywags mounted a vigorous assault on fortress Kanwal but were repelled and counter-attacked repeatedly down our right flank by a wily foe using the icy wind and blinding sun in our eyes to bombard our top deck with long high balls. This tactic finally paid off with a late 1st half breech with a 2nd only narrowly averted by the heroics of Baldrick at our rear. Half time 1-0 to Kanwal. Read more

This week we deployed our heavy artillery but ran out of ammo as the ever hard working Gosford finally turned us over with 2 deflections in the 1st half to make it 2-0 which they held onto till the end. Read more

Sorry for any inaccuracies but too many goals to remember exactly what was what – fine performance though and looking forward to next weekend against the unbeaten Woy Woy where hopefully we’ll have our fave line coach TJ back to organise us. Read more

Ourimbah D’s vs Barnstoneworth D’s 3:15PM May 16th at Ourimbah with lots of trains going by for Aaron to get excited about. (don’t ask)

A fine sunny afternoon in downtown Ourimbah saw a depleted and reshuffled Barny army start well with good early possession on the tiniest of pitches. Read more

The D’s were creaking slightly being generally old (or ancient in Mr Dalton and Mr Butlers case) with our 1st game in 3 weeks and missing Bill’s Duracel capabilities and Ed’s knack for nicking goals. Read more

The Dashing D’s faced the unknown this week against an East Gosford side new to the competition but were soon in our stride gaining the lead with a fine strike from Andy Stuart cutting in from the left for his 2nd goal in 2 games. East Gosford equalised after their troublesome left winger cut through us and laid a perfect ball on for their striker till TJ made a tactical change to stifle him. Read more

Gosford 2 Barnstoneworth 5

A tough game as always against Gosford was closer than the score line suggests with a late Gosford goal being disallowed and Ed nicking 2 late goals for his hat-trick. However a fine performance from a re-shuffled backline was only marred by 2 mistakes (great air swing for their 1st!) with Aaron in imperious form while the midfield worked tirelessly particularly down the left.
