BUFC B North vs The Entrance Match Report
Round 6 saw us playing our home game against The Entrance at Pat Morley Oval in our rather swanky white away strip, in which we nearly always seem to get good results for some reason.
Our opponents were one of the only teams in our comp this season that we played against last year, so we knew that we were up for a battle, even given their being bottom of the league. Despite lots of pre-game talk about ignoring our opponents’ league position in an attempt to shake off any complacency, our opponents came at us very hard from the kick off and we found ourselves on the back foot for the opening 5-10 minutes. Having weathered the early pressure we were able to set about imposing our game plan and once Frank scored the opener from a great counter attack, we were able to get fully onto the front foot, with further well-crafted goals coming from Jorge and another from Frank giving us a 3-0 lead. Once again, we allowed one of our opponents too much space just outside the area but to be fair the shot that resulted was pretty much unstoppable, so there went another clean sheet! Neal added another counter-attacking goal to restore our lead and so we went into the break 4-1 up.
After the lesson we learned at Jubilee Oval last time out we knew that we could not give our opponents any sort of a sniff in the second half and it was good to see us take the heat out of the game and control things very comfortably. Another goal from Jorge and Frank sealing his hat trick saw us home to a comfortable 6-1 win and has earned our fearsome strike force the new nickname of ‘The Forge’ (we will let you work it out!), as their understanding and combination play is simply breathtaking at times.
Unsurprisingly given their combined potency in attack, the man of the match award was shared between Frank and Jorge, whilst the Scrotum medal went to Eric “out on the full” Cipollone.
