Southern Ettalong 2 – BUFC Bs 8
The 35B’s 2015 season campaign commenced with a pleasant trip to the peninsula for a match against Southern Ettalong. As our opponents had been promoted from C grade, we had no idea what to expect but we were certainly looking forward to the game, especially after the rain had closed a number of other grounds.
On a pleasant sunny afternoon, we started the game very brightly and were rewarded for our positive start when Gregor smashed in a cracking right foot shot into the top corner from around 25 metres. This was followed up by a brace from debutant Adam Sinodinos, who looked sharp all afternoon, before Jorge got into the swing of things with a further brace. Frank was rewarded for a good performance with goal number 6 after which Gregor hit his second of the game, before Adam netted his hat trick to round the scoring out at 8 goals, our highest ever scoreline.
The only negatives were conceding two goals to individual errors due to some early-season rustiness, so that is something we can work on eradicating going forward. Special mention must go to John Rymill for what has to be the wickedest ‘backpass’ in BUFC history, from which my hands are still stinging!
Our goal difference sees us sit atop of B grade after the first round and the team looks to be up for a big season, so hopefully we can maintain that level or performance against Kanwal in round 2.
