Kariong vs BUFC Ds
The signs were auspicious as the mighty 35Ds took to the only dry field on the coast at Kariong, searching for their second win of the season.
A tense first half ended in stalemate with no clear chances at either end. This all changed in the second half though, as an early and somewhat generous penalty gave Kariong the lead. However, we pressed hard and were rewarded only a few minutes later when James turned in a slightly scrappy equaliser from a corner. Then the fightback was on, and we quickly added a second with a great strike from Tim, who shortly after extended our lead from the spot.
The home side were then gifted another penalty but they could only put it wide – which some would call justice. Kariong’s afternoon then proceeded to get steadily worse as a fine individual goal from loanee Chris made it 4-1, and then just to plant the boot squarely in the groin, Payney’s wonder strike made it 5-1.
All in all it was a strong performance, particularly in the second half, and we were good value for the win. Deserved man of the match was top scorer Tim, closely followed by Jason who held us together at the back. Avoca are up next – we need to bring it all over again next week boys.
Final Score: Kariong 1 – Barnstoneworth 5
