BUFC B vs Avoca

The B team of the mighty BUFC eventually kicked a ball in anger on Saturday, our opponents being the newly relegated Avoca. Knowing we were in for a tough game the plan was to not let them settle on the ball. It worked well within 10 minutes we were one up with a fine goal from Brad Finch, sadly Avoca hit straight back with a dubious penalty which Darrel came close to saving. It didn’t rattle us too much because a team with 8 new players we were playing some excellent football and it wasn’t long before we hit the lead again through Nigel Ward. It looks as if we have a lethal strike force this year with both Brad and Nigel scoring again before half time to take our lead to 4-1, a brace of goals to the pair, should be a good battle for golden boot this year.

The second half was as expected with Avoca coming out with all guns blazing, we struggled to find our form from the first half and it wasn’t long before Avoca pulled one back, tempers started to flare a bit from the Avoca boys more in frustration I think but we hung on there to the final whistle.

A fine performance from all that played in particular Jordy who received the man of the match, although some of the new lads didn’t have a clue what he was saying !!!

A mention also for coach Kev who stood down as we had 50 players on the day, he did a sterling job of the substitutions.
