BUFC B vs East Gosford 2
Hilton Moore Oval – East Gosford
The local derby, a game that we had all been looking forward to and one that we really wanted to win.
Everyone went out pumped up for this one, they were top of the league and we wanted to show them we were going to make a game of it, it showed from the start with players shutting down the opposition stopping them from playing the flowing football we knew they could play but at the same time playing some great football ourselves.
We had a couple of near misses but from a great move the ball was played into big Ed who was tackled from behind in the box, a penalty awarded which the big fella wanted to take, his shot was aimed straight at the keeper who managed to get a foot to it but the power forced it over the line. 16 minutes 1- 0 up and that’s the way it stayed to half time. The ref had to cut the half down to 35 mins because of the fading light!
The second half started the same, relentless pressure and after 8 minutes a shot was saved by their keeper only for Nic to pick up the crumbs and slot it home to put us 2 – 0 up. We could sense that the east Gosford boy’s heads were dropping and our football became fantasy football !!!!! some lovely triangles, one touch stuff that we can do at training but very rarely on a Saturday and so with 2 minutes left to play Brad finished them off with a fine curling shot around the keeper to make it 3 – 0 to the mighty Barnstoneworth.
Everyone stepped up a notch this week with special mentions to Anibal, Glenn Waters, Glenn Hume who I think had their best games so far this season and to Darrel for a fine performance in goal once again but the man of the match deservedly going to Eduardo Forcadella.
Final score BUFC 3 EAST GOSFORD2 0
